Is there a method in Vurtualdub for reset of video capture settings?

I changed accidently the format for capture when experimenting with program.
I think my accidental selection was somthing-24. This was the second listed selection of what maybe a broadcast standards list.
I think some setting examples are NTSC, PAL-B, PAL-D, NTSCJ, etc.

In order to view list and change selection, I need to select capture avi.
When I select that option my computer automatically shuts down.

I have tried deleting Vurtualdub and reinstall. This did not work as I believe the settings are stored.

This problem did not occure when I first installed Vurtualdub.[COLOR=blue] wacko.gif

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem (I'm not sure what triggered it off, it could be an option change) but as soon as I select File->Capture AVI... I get some harddrive activity followed by a black screen, followed by a black screen with a green line along the top. The only way I can get out of which is to press the reset button.

One day VD is working fine and the next it crashes every time I select this option. I've tried versions 1.4.13 and 1.4.10 with the same results. Removing registry entries through AuxSetup does not work and returns: “The system can not find the file" for every entry. I went through the registry and deleted every reference to VD I could find and then restarted the computer before rerunning VD (which brings up the license screen) but I still get the crashes. I've looked for an ini file but could not find one, I assume the options are stored in the registry. Other capture programs (iuVCR, Amcap and PCTV Vision) seem to work fine and so does DScaler (including the limited TimeShift facilities of 3.1.2). I can still compress AVIs using VD but not capture. The crash does not produce a crashinfo.txt file.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be or what I could try?

My setup is:
WinME (fully updated through MS update)
Pinnacle PCTV Rave Pal-I
MSI K7N420 Pro (nvidia nforce1 - int. audio/video - video driver: V40.72, not updated since everything worked fine)
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
Crucial 2*256MB PC2100

Hello.

First, try deleting the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freeware\VirtualDub

If that doesn't fix the problem, try reinstalling the drivers for your capture hardware.

Thanks reinstalling the PCTVs drivers did the trick. biggrin.gif ( huh.gif )
