I am trying to capture the video and audio from my Verizon FIOS cable box on my laptop. I have a very simple connection between the box and my laptop. It is basically an adapter that accepts RCA plugs from my cable box on one side and has a usb connection coming out the other side that fits into the laptop.
Usually the sound is fine. But at random, the sound will slow down and/or this kind of squelch-tunnel-screech kind of a sound occurs. It seems to me it must have something to do with the Timing settings under Capture. I have tried various combinations of settings to try to correct the problem, but it usually just makes it worse, not better. I have also tried various compression settings - both audio and video - but thus far I have not found anything that works.
I should also mention that I do not have this problem when I use Expression Encoder 4 (the new Windows Media Encoder). And also that I have lost track of what the default Timing settings are on Virtual Dub.
Any suggestions as to what I might try? Thanks. |

My experience is that you can best uncheck all the checkboxes via Capture > Timing, and choose "Do not resync between video and audio streams". |
