I have had perfect captures for the last few years. I use Vdub (1.9.11), PICVideo MJPEG 4 compressor and Video Grabber USB capture device. 720 x 480 resolution, smooth, with no dropped or added frames. I use an HP desktop PC. 3.4 GHz, with just 2 Gig of ram. A few weeks ago, while capturing a tv movie, I plugged a fan into the power bar that my computer is powered by. The capture screen froze and I was forced to exit Vdub. Since then, when I try to capture with the same settings, or any settings for that matter, the video is not very clear and is choppy, like stop-action animation, on the preview screen, as well as the finished capture. I have tried another capture device (EasyCap), but with the same result. I downloaded another Vdub, same version, same result. I did notice in the capture pin settings that it always reverts back to the 320 x 240 size. It will not stay on any other resolution. The version 1.10.4 seems more clear, but still choppy. I am not a computer nerd nor an A/V pro, so I am a bit lost for solutions. I hope someone here can help me with this.Hopefully, a simple fix. Please let me know if you have any questions I can answer. |

Well, the day after I write the post, the damn thing starts working again! Not sure what happened, I pulled the plug on everything and rebooted. Must of done that a dozen times. Stayed with the new Vdub and now it works. Go figure. |

Probably a problem with the USB device-driver ?
Next time, look into Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers, to verify if something is wrong. In case of, remove that device (disconnect - and Uninstall in device manager), restart the computer, plug the device back in. |

Abrazo is right about that....you need to uninstall and install the program file or hardware.. |
