Has anyone been able to get data partitioning to work at all? every time I try, the first chunk plays fine, then from the 2nd and on the video is totally screwed, encoding either from virtualdub or tmpeg, haven't tried others yet though

Hi Sarreq Teryx,

welcome to this board. In fact your problem isn't really vd related. It is a known issue of DivX Pro™ Software 5.x

QUOTE
Data parititioning is not supported with B-VOPs (i.e., B-frames) as specified in the MPEG-4 standard (ISO/IEC 14496/2:2001). This means you should not use data partitioning with B-frames and vice versa. Using the two together may cause artifacts in the encoded content. Both features work fine separately.

There is no prob when using datapartitioning in VDub when you do it like this:

1. Use datapartitioning while encoding with divx

After that the file wont work in WMP but in the Divx alpha Player

2. Open the encoded file in VDub and compress audio to mp3

File works with wmp also

This could help you ? It works for me...

@ Sill: They fixed that bug with the new version (they said tongue.gif )

congrats @ BaronVlad

you solved the problem by using a detour (why not!) but it's not true that they fixed that bug with the current version... as you can read it here ...

Sorry, think i misunderstood your question, but in my testruns (from a capture) it looks pretty fine, no artefacts, as I can judge it with this sample...

possibly, I'll try it out, but wouldn't that break the partitioning, or does it only apply to the video portion of the file (video chunked, audio not) in the first place?

and also, I'm unable to get it to work with bframes off also

Hm..Strange, with b-frames off I had no probs, then it also runs with wmp !!??

Thought it would only apply to the video as you set audio directstreamcopy when encoding, afterwards you set videodirectstreamcopy when encoding audio, Think the packages should be there after this (?)

And with mp3 there should not be a problem, as you can use it for streaming, cant you ?
