detect and delete (or interpolate) empty frames.
there is a utility (filter) called deshaker but this has no option to detect empty frames, and "preserve empty frames" resulted in the video file output having a grid of white dots and emptye frames were not skipped while saving the file. does anyone know the problem and its solution? ph34r.gif mad.gif wacko.gif

Where do you set this "preserve empty frames" ? I can't find it. Is this a Capture mode setting?

If it's any help, you can ignore certain frames (repeating the previous frame) by selecting them on the timeline and applying Edit, Mask selected. This would have to be done for each bad frame, so it might not be practical for you.

Re: the white grid, you know this is normal on Deshaker Pass 1:
1. Select Pass 1; play entire video. You see a grid of dots or arrows showing camera movement. Frame movement data is saved to a log (text) file.
2. Select Pass 2; play the final video with correction.

During Pass 1, you can ignore the display if you like, or you can use it to adjust the Pass 1 motion detection options.
Valid motion detection is shown in white, invalid in red. (see the Deshaker manual))

@raffriff42
Preserve empty frames in on the video menu

@zdrastvutye
But it's an option to delete or keep 'null' frames, not deletes blank ones
Null frames are marked as such by the codec, and when decoded the previous frame is used
Some codecs use them to save space on duplicate frames etc
