I am about to work on an old tape and there are faint white silhouettes not long after subjects when they are moving around on stage. I'm working on trying to get the VHS tape back so I can try capturing from a better VCR but I don't know if this will make a difference?

For example the white anomalies shows around people's body and heads, like a ghost image following subject's movement.

I haven't noticed this affect with other tapes I have captured. Is there something I can do to at least minimize this affect?

With a quick play using a saved copy of the images it worked fairly well

Yeah I tried that on the video but it didn't seem to phase it on my end. Especially the white lines on the kid's shirt.

I have another opportunity to recapture the tape. A friend of mine is sending it back to me. It's a tape of a school play I was in back in junior high in 1988.

Time Base Correction (LTBC) (stops audio drift and many other problems)
such as http://www.grassvalley.com/products/converters

I did read once that many video cameras have the same technology to stop this at least LTBC ability inbuilt. I have never tied this but is worth a try it may get rid of the ghosting. You only need to connect so the video passes through the video camera no record action is needed by the video camera.

At least you weren't to embarrassed with your part up on stage with some under hand acting! smile.gif
