I open an AVI (h264/mp3), to fix audio displacement, so I need Direct Stream copy, but when I press Play Output, I have this error: "The currently selected output plugin cannot be used in direct stream copy mode."
I worked it out using only Play Input, but it puzzles me why I can't use play output.

To me it also seems to NOT be correct that we get this message when playing a file via the "Output Playback" button, while the Video- and the Audio menu are set to Direct Stream Copy.
This phenomenon seems to have started at the moment that the "External Encoders..." feature has been add (to the Options-menu), starting from version 1.10.xx I suppose that a particular check is not being done (in VirtualDub's programmation code), to verify if the file is only being played/previewed, or if it is really being exported by using an external encoder (via File > Export > Using external encoder...).
Version 1.9.11 of VirtualDub does not have that problem.
A work-around in version 1.10.xx is to temporarely set the Video- and Audio- menu to Full Processing Mode, to check audio synchronisation.
I have the impression that Phaeron (Avery Lee), the developer of VirtualDub, does not really follow this forum anymore since a few months. (last update was Oct. 13 2014).
Let us hope that he picks up this problem sooner or later. |
