You might think it's obvious, but we have no idea what happened
So tell us in your question
Nobody wants to play 20 questions just to get some basic information
Tell us what kind of file you were using
If you're using an input plugin then please say which one
You can not give us too much information
eg

I saved a file and it didn't work - please help
That tells us nothing and having to spend 10 posts just to find out the user never clicked 'save' is frustrating

I loaded a .mp4 with fccHandlers Quicktime plugin
Selected full processing mode for video, direct stream copy for audio
Then I added the deinterlace (internal) filter
I saved the file but it's really big now
Ah ha, we can say straight off, that the user forgot to pick a video compressor before saving
