I have this codec installed, but windows 8 has problems trying to register it in the registry |

Strange, works fine here (win7,8,8.1 x86 and x64)
Did you download SetupAACacm_X86_X64.zip from https://sourceforge.net/projects/fcchandler/files/ ?
When you run it do you get the UAC prompt and then after a few 'nexts' a tickbox for 32 and 64 bit ?
If so, what's the exact error ?

No, I tried another, but now I tried this one you posted,(and followed the prompt correctly) when I start virtualdub, I still get missing codec, as in the screen shot I posted . Do I have to restart my pc after the install or should it find this new one automatically ? also do I have to switch off the FLV plugin ? and if so how do I do that ? |

With audio mode set to full processing, if you open the audio compression dialog, is aac on the list?
You shouldn't have to restart the pc, just virtualdub
To remove the flv plugin just move it out of the plugins folder (or plugins32 or plugins64 depending on your version of virtualdub)
I'd recommend the FFMpeg plugin, as it can load them all by itself

They're both part of the ac3 acm codec (v2.2)
I think it was added in v2.1

Copy for microsoft's new wave format extensible tag compatibility. I think it works only for decoding so two AC3 ACM shows for that reason.
If disable in config window it hides away after virtual-d restart. |
