Unable to open files in VirtualDub:

“Couldn’t locate decompressor for format ‘H264’ (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Vidéeo for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video.DirectShow codec…are not suitable”

Issue appears since to days. Works fine before..

Thanks for help

You'll need a codec capable or understanding H264
http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/

(either your previous videos did not use H264 or it somehow became uninstalled)

Hi,
I followed dloneranger's suggestion and downloaded the indicated file and installed the DLL both into VirtualDub Directory and also into the System32 one (my OS is Windows7 ultimate, 64 bit)
I still get the message reported in the initial post.
Any useful hint how to solve this issue?
thanks in advance!

Um, it's not a dll, it's an installer
Download and run it, then start virtualdub and it should be in the list
(Can't remember if it needs to be 'run as admin' offhand)
