This needs people that are always around Virtualdub and visit here often. You will be replaced if your not around for a long while. To keep this project alive and fresh. Also look at the forum how many moderators there are on the boards though they never have visited in years there to show you who used to moderate here. This project doesn't need that to always have active people maintaining it. People chosen will have been hear for a while or visit often and post with many good posts giving help and advice. So that all below is done correctly. Of course everyone else here will have the say what is good and not good and what changes should be made to each part below and others added later
Start . Three to Five (or more) people for this project (Speak and write in English as their first language) . A new forum topic named ' Unoffiical Virtualdub Guides ' Where it would be seen by those visiting. Or maybe a Sub forum in Newbies forum ? . That any forum member can post there (forum registration post rules apply) so the forum where it is located doesn't get spa'med . Name the Youtube channel ' Unofficial Virtualdub Video Guides ' where it also has urls so people know where to go
Why do this . Youtube is visited by many people reading here they say they saw this and that on Youtube. Mostly they have it wrong so the reason they are here asking . Because it is very much needed to have video guides and tutorials for Virtualdub for everyone . Without knowledge they keep coming here asking the same questions over and over. Videos speak more to someone than a book or a forum ever could. Not that help isn't available it is. Though it is also more so don't have to keep relaying the same advice over and over
Basic guides . Downloading setting up Virtualdub in C: and also a portable usb drive. Showing also in the same video to keep all settings in the Virtualdub directory . Settings (basic) for all new and old Virtualdub users . Video Codecs such as codecs installing, setting up and using them with the various different encoding options available. For lossy video encoders always to use x264 in all videos. User can apply the same to other encoders as they need. Easier to have one encoder to show in each video. Also use the best lossy encoder over the rest (x265 is to new not all os is supported to be used yet). Include also uncompressed video and when it is needed to compress lossless or lossy, such as intermediate file for keeping quality and other uses. Lossy encode the final encode etc . Audio Codecs such as codecs installing, setting up and using them with the various different encoding options available
Video File Loading . Decoder Plugins and why it is needed for more than DShowInputDriver and FFMpegInputDriver to be installed such as Quicktime and how to install them . Download and install MediaInfo (zip unpack same as virtual dub setup style) (to choose 7z or zip and not open candy or other rubbish that we (Virtualdub users) should never promote such like . Loading videos including decoder plugins (how to use MediaInfo to help when the video doesn't load) . Virtualdub menus and their uses for menu items screen input and output which is which what is will be shown on what and other menu items etc
Video Processing . Curve editor (has to be number one soon as all users use it the better of everyone will be for using it) . Filters . Encoders . FPS . Other such video related things
Audio Processing . Your choice but never show mp3 instead use AC3 until aac is available for encoding with virtualdub . Other such audio related things
Settings in detail all the other settings . External Encoders . Other Video Plugins each showing in detail what each one does for ever setting. Also to describe what each [C] box item is which is better or not etc. The Blend button for those who skipped that video. Options For Single frame buffer. With the url location where to get each plugin*
AviSynth . Download and Install . Basic script to save with avs. To show how to allow .avs open as notepad or in any other editor as standard when an .avs is selected for editing . Simple script to load video file use also fps and show describing turning with audio on or off . Loading of AviSynth plugins telling how it expands virtualdub capabilities beyond nearly every other editor . AviSynth Editors because many people will need them to make scripts (is there any AviSynth editors that are so good for everyone to use without problems) many people don't know scripts or coding and shouldn't be need point and click GUI's
Frameserving . Using Virtualdub . Virtualdub to Virtualdub . DGIndex, DGAVCIndex etc
Notes . For the future of Virtualdub it is better now that we archive all the Virtualdub plugins and store them on Sourceforge ' Unofficial Virtualdub Plugins '. With the option to see all plugins to choose any plugin or option to download all plugins in one zip archive. They would need to be sorted in 32bit and 64bit (most if not all I would think 32bit). But also for those that work with current VIrtualddub and those that don't to be in separate folders and named as such Old plugins read plugin notes to know which old Virtualdub version is needed to use them. Though most should still be ok for use today with 32bit. We are only archiving the last version of each that works. Older plugins need not be tested only the the last version is there
. Wiki pages called ' Unoffical Virtualdub Guides ' with guides that explain all the Virtualdub plugins guides with pictures which also describes (in english) what each plugin does. Which will complement or give information until a video is made showing the plugin in use. Maybe also think of all of the above as a guide also on wiki. All guides available in pdf format file|s also chm for those that are using from usb portable device without a reader to read a pdf A searchable wiki for plugin is invaluable since there are many plugins for Virtualdub Also note on wiki that AviSynth dll plugins can be used with virtualdub direction url to active AviSynth plugins page the pages that has some plugin descriptions at least (Ithink it is russian url site written in English atm for the AviSynth plugins)
. A Wiki for Virtualdub to better the one is already there. A full written and picture detailed guide with pictures. Info taken from offical help and what is known to be true. Only factual information no guessing informations
The above hasn't covered everything just wanted to put the idea forward. It is needed for Virtualdub for everyone who use Virtualdub at least bring Virtualdub more to the people and let them know what Virtualdub is capable of and how easy it is to do so with ease if not there is always the forum to fall back on. But doing the above will help the forum because in doing the above will gain Virtualdub many new users and many new forum members. That keep Virtualdub going maybe even people that can add code to virtualdub for Avery to look at and maybe is added to Virtualdub evolving Virtualdub further |
