It's just slanted I'll bet the width of the video isn't a multiple of 4 -- A lot of codecs have rules about widths/heights that are in the specs, unfortunately some video encoders allow you to make ones that are out of spec and don't follow the rules. This can break some decoders that assume the rules have been followed correctly
What plugin are you using to open it? The DirectShow plugin should open it ok (and possibly the FFMpeg one), if not, you may have to change whatever codec you're using to decode with
(If you need to post more info, please include a screenshot of the file information dialog so we can see how the video's been decoded on your pc)

Yup, the width is wrong - it's only a multiple of 2 (not 4) You don't say what input plugin you're using in virtualdub
You can try the DirectShow, FFMpeg and Quicktime plugins to open it You could also try forcing the decoder into a specific colour format (that sometimes works) To try that - on the video menu select full processing mode, select colour depth, pick a different decompression format (rgb, uyuv, vy24) and then open the video file
When you do finally open the file correctly, you'll have to crop two pixels off one of the sides, or resize the width to 1248 before saving it

I don't know what is the input plugin and changing the color depth doesn't work
in the fact the video has been re sizing using the re size feature in virtual dub to covert it to hd video file |

The file information dialog on the file menu gives the important information - a screenshot would show what's being used But the answers the same, try the other input plugins I mentioned above

And it was resized to a bad size - the resize filter has a 'codec friendly' setting where you can make sure it's a multiple of 4 720 HD is 1280x720 btw, not 1246 (I'm surprised the encoder you used actually allowed you use that width without giving an error)

Multiples of 2 is fine with newer 264s. MP4InputDriver.vdplugin seems outdated and needs to be deleted. Replace with those dloneranger says. QuickTime in "fcchandler's stuff" in dloneranger's signature too. For quicktime plug-in may need x264vfw codec, but unnecessary since another 2 of them present (waiting for x265 XD). |
