There are MPEG2/WMV plugins available for VirtualDub now. Check the sticky in the filter forum.

| QUOTE (phaeron @ Jun 22 2008, 07:35 PM) | @dgdg: Confirmed bug -- the master process isn't updating the shared list until the job control dialog is displayed. As soon as you do that, the slave(s) should see the new jobs. |
Ok, if the job control dialog stays open it works fine. So this is no real limitation for me, because the slave is only started once and the dialog opens automaticly in slave mode.
I can now finally change my DVB processing from parallel rendering with many virtualdub instances to sequential processing using one slave instance and job control list.
Thanks for this feature ! |

It appears to be a bit more - I've had a slave lose synchronisation when the job control window has not been closed. Sitting there with two slaves open, adding jobs on a third machine - suddenly one of the slaves stopped seeing the new jobs being added, and I had to restart that instance.
I noticed at the time (in response to Phaeron's blog post) that the master and the slave that didn't lose sync both had a VirtualDub.jobs file, but the slave that did lose sync didn't have one. My understanding from the blog is that it's the revision number in the VirtualDub.jobs file on the one you're adding jobs on that can cause problems. I've since deleted all VirtualDub.jobs files, and hopefully that will fix the problem until 1.8.2 comes out. |

Please try the prerelease version in the testing forums -- there was a nasty bug in the revision handling that I fixed. |

Help ! I downloaded 1.8.1 from sourceforge (the internode mirror in South Australia) and my Trend Internet Security 2008 (latest update) quarantined it as containing a virus PAK.Generic.001 ! The error message linked to http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyc...PAK_Generic.001
1st and only error of that sort I've received, and I download a fair few zips What's special about that particular zip file I wonder ? |

There is nothing special other than that it contains the latest stable release of VirtualDub.

Thanks. Beats me why Trend kicks up at the file then. It's not like detects bad stuff for all zip files ... this and only this one. |

I use a generic (and safe) executable compressor on VirtualDub.exe. Executable compressors are sometimes tricky for antivirus software to handle, so sometimes they take the lame way out and just tag it with a generic, as you see here.
I'd actually recommend that if your AV software has a "send us a sample" function, to please use it -- if Trend Micro gets notification about this case, they might be able to tweak the heuristic that's tripping the false positive. |

| QUOTE (phaeron @ Jun 18 2008, 06:51 AM) | | ...Audio fading... haven't thought about it much. Bunch of little framework stuff that needs to happen for that, since curves aren't exposed to audio filters (or any filters, since it's internal). I guess I could just digitize the curve and feed it as an audio stream in the filter graph to use with a mixer... | Any news about this?
