That's a bug in the original VirtualDub. I can probably fix it in my version though.

Why? This is clearly a bug in the original and it should be reported to Avery Lee, not me.

No it doesn't. I just downloaded it to double check, and it's the source for build 23762, August 29. Make sure you're downloading from this page.

heh, i just discovered your tool handles vobs with VBR MP3 as well
direct stream copying makes it go weird though.

VBR audio in MPEGs is not a problem. Copying that it into an AVI... Well, you're just asking for trouble.

hi i just upgraded my vdub-mpeg2 from 1.5.10 core to 1.6.10 core the other day, but i have not been able to get the frameserving to work correctly for me
i frameserve a piece of an mpeg2 video to tmpgenc the same way as with the previous version, but for some reason it starts at the correct position, but then serves the whole length of the video, but only black after the end marker position.
i have unistalled and reinstalled the handler several times as well as removed the personal settings several times as well, i just cant figure out what is going wrong
btw great work and thanks to both avery lee and fcchandler!!! |

| QUOTE (rspacer @ Sep 27 2005, 11:05 AM) | | it starts at the correct position, but then serves the whole length of the video, but only black after the end marker position. | It works correctly for me. Are you only marking start/end positions or have you edited or deleted portions of the video? Can you duplicate the problem with an AVI file? And if so, does the original VirtualDub 1.6.10 do the same thing? (I haven't changed anything about VirtualDub's frameserving code.)

I would suggest trying to open the .vdr file with another instance of VirtualDub and see what it says in File Information. What you are describing could occur if the audio stream were much longer than the video stream. |

that was the problem thnks!
would never have figured that out on my own!
the audio was malformed somehow and was telling me there was 28:28:28 worth of it for a four minute video |

have just realised it is doing the same thing for all my source videos, mpeg2 and avi's
what i do is simply mark the start point and end point and then frameserve to tmpgenc by naming it .avi, but i have tested with both naming it avi and vdr and the same thing happens each time.
these sources were working with 1.5.10
i have tested sources using mpeg audio, and also sources using ac3 and whatever codec the avi i had laying around was using also.

Sigh....
I caused this bug trying to fix another one.
As a workaround, delete the portions you don't want before frameserving instead of relying on the selection to clip. |
