How to solve this problem ?
I have one movie in two different formats:
- The first one is SVCD, 3 CDs NTSC, perfect movie quality, very buggy sound (very bad normalization, sometimes very loud, after a second nothing to hear), the end of the movie is incomplete - The second one (same movie), has a perfect sound, bad movie quality in PAL on 4 CDs, the complete ending of the movie
Also the movies differ in the beginning (different opening credits), in the rest of the movie are the same scenes at the same time
I want to have one Movie in Divx on one CD with perfect synchronous sound and a perfect movie quality with the complete ending.
But what to do ?
There must be a way to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance
PS: If you need more details, please post it and you will get it...

Well you could try buying the dvd and start from the beggining with everwicked's guide If you re-encode the video you won't have perfect quality,no matter how cd's you'll use.Especially if u use one the quality will be even worse. What bitrate did you use? What sound format? |

Here is the way to go :
1. Download TMPEGenc ( from www.doom9.org f.e. ) , goto 'file' 'MPEG tools' 'Demux' and demux the video streams only from each of the 3 SVCDs. You will end up with 3 .m2v files, each containing video only.
2. Now use TMPEG again to append these 3 files to form one big .m2v file. Rename it to .mpg . Fire up DVD2AVI and create a project file. Now use AVIsynth to render the file to Vdub ( as normal ), use filtering/resizing and also deinterlacing in AVISynth or Vdub ( as you prefer, 1st is faster, set Vdub for 'fast reprocessing' ) and make a very normal DivX video file with 23.97 fps.
3. If the video file is ready goto Vdub and set frame rate to 25 fps.
4. Now extract your sound file from the PAL AVI to a WAV, using Vdubs 'save WAV' function.
5. Mux the video from 1 - 3 and the audio from 4 to one file
Done !!

Christian,
You make this sound so simple. Great explanation. Allow me to add that if the PAL CDs are SVCDs as well, then you will need to demux the audio the same way as the video and then decode it. I recommend BeSweet for decoding to PCM. Also, if you want to keep the framerate of the original, BeSweet can convert the audio from PAL to NTSC. Just post again if you want info on how to do that.
Hooray, finally a member!

Thanks for the video, Christian.
I forgot to mention that the 4 CDs are VCD (sorry)
In your guide I think I have to take the sound of the 3 CDs, but it is very bad, so I want to take the good sound of the 4 CDs. How to do that ? "Converting" the PAL Sound to NTSC Sound (bad Explanation, I know) What about the different beginnings and the missing end in the SVCD part ? Can I add it somehow from the VCD part to the avi, that I made from the SVCD ? Will it be still synchronous ? What to do if it is not ?
Thanks

Same way as you extracted the video from the S-VCDs, use the MPEG tools from TMPEGenc for that. You will end up with 4 different .mp2 or .m2a sound files if you do, so you maybe decide to concatenate the 4 VCDs to one big file before extracting the audio, as you prefer.
BeSweet will allow you to convert the .mp2 audio files to .mp3 ( lame ) or Vorbis ( if you use Ogg container later for muxing the video ).

Not necessary. Simply force the framerate of your movie to be 25 fps in Vdub, as i explained above, and you are set ... no need to fiddle with sound duration, except you insist to have the movie play at default cinema rate of 24 fps.

Well, i cant really judge from here what a job the author of the original VCDs has made when cutting the 4 VCDs, but of course TMPEGenc will allow you to chop off some pieces on the beginning/end of each file, so that they match. You probably are better off to do this with the SVCDs/VCDs before demuxing the video/audio from them, otherwise it will be pretty hard to sync them later.
In any case, if there are small desync problems during the movie, you can use Vdubs function 'change framerate such that audio and video durations match' ! You won't notice if your movie will not play at 25 fps, but 24.85 , i promise !!

Oho ! Thanks Christian...and let me say, that you are the contests winner ! You trapped me and I trapped you, cause "this was just a fake question as I already knew the answer".
I did it this way: SVCD: VCDgear to copy the dats to the disk Tmpeg as you said it above GKnot VDub
VCD: extracting the sound Converting to MP3 using Winamp (your way is much better I think ) Muxing with VDub and then I had to do a puzzle to get it synchronous
After that cutting the end from the VCD and converting it to Divx 25 fps and appending it to the "SVCD-movie"
If I knew about you half a year ago, this operation would have been much more easy, in the Ultimateboard I got no answer like this for my question.
Compliments to you and this board.
