Hi all, @dloneranger: the test I did was AC3 ACM codec. To get to the bottom, right now I did the test AC3 Extensible. Only VLC play it OK. Also, I noticed that during the compression, no matter what audio codec selected, VirtualDub Status show Audio data: 375KB.

@Abrazo: | QUOTE | | I would make the combination of DivX or Xvid with audio, I would rather opt for MP3 (via the Lame MP3 audio-codec). | Right now I made the test of combination of DivX with Lame MP3 audio-codec. Dame as the above case 3). Only VLC play it OK. Also, I noticed that during the compression, no matter what audio codec selected, VirtualDub Status show Audio data: 64KB.
To get to the bottom AGAIN, I took the same part of movie and Apply Direct Video and Audio AC3 ACM codec (256Kb/s, 48 KHz, Stereo). Only VLC play it OK (see here bellow image). Also, I noticed that during the compression the VirtualDub Status start with Audio data: 64k then gradually increases from the mid to end compress (see here bellow image).

I definitely suspect the audio problem. Do I have to install a working audio codecs? What-else? Again I'll really appreciate yr help Regards |

For as far as I can find information about the Freebox Player, AC3 is not mentioned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freebox http://www.tomsguide.fr/article/freebox-re...es,2-89-11.html https://lafibre.info/free-les-news/liste-de...olution-player/ |

There's nothing special about the codecs you are using, and all players you've tested should play them back fine
There are no codecs needed to install, as you already have them
Unsure why the status dialog's audio is not incrementing smoothly It's the amount of data written to disk so far Check your interleaving settings - they should look like this

x264vfw (for H264) https://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/fi.../?source=navbar

TNX dloneranger for the infos and for yr patience May you let me know, how is it that when I open any .avi file with subtitles I get the subtitles, while when I open any .MKV with subtitles I have not. Even to the video input. WEIRD. Is any way to enable subtitles for .MKV files? Regards |

Not really weird, subtitles have to actually be drawn on the video Players assume that you want subtitles and so draw them Video editors don't work on that assumption
There are plenty of ways to get the subtitles draw on, by plugins or the video decoder codec itself (ffdshow's lets you do this) However, it's not something I've really looked at so searching the site would be better

If you still have problems with missing codecs you can try VirtualDub AIO (in my signature), it contains 32/64-bit VirtualDub, codecs and input plugins.

The problem with subtitles is different, it has nothing to do with avi/mkv.
Often subtitles in avi are inserted in the video itself (hardsub) so the player and all programs will obviously show them, but in some cases they are in a separate track in the same file (softsub). If the player don't support subtitles will not show them for softsub files, otherwise you can enable/disable them every time you want.
If you want hardcode subtitles in the video you can use the vsfilter in VirtualDub.
