I currently have several avi's captured from my digital camera that were shot in low light conditions. I have been tinkering with the brightness/contrast, hsv, and levels filters in virtualdubmod to brighten them. The resulting avi's are improved, but the filters seem harsh in terms of just creating washout. I understand that washout comes with the territory of brightening low light videos, but I was wondering if anyone uses any specialized plug-in filters or has any good suggestions for this type of editing to retain some clarity/definition?
Sorry for being a noob, but definitely checked the usual outlets (search, recent posts, faqs, etc) prior to posting... Thanks in advance, this communtiy seems to be experienced and knowledgable. -B |

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion, I'll try it out later this evening. It also appears that there will be an MSU smart brightness/contrast filter available soon. |
