Ok, get ready to call me stupid, but every once in a while, when I downloaded a new version of a filter and unzipped it to my plugins folder, I would still see the old version in my list instead of the new. I figured they just forgot to update the version # on the display.
But just tonight, reading a post on Smart Smoother HiQ 2.11, it became really apparent that I wasn't installing the new version (because new options were referenced in the post, that i didn't see in my faux updated version).
Long story short, I found out that my unzip tool (ZipGenius) was not deigning to inform me that it was unable to overlay a filter file on unzip because the file was in use ... and if VD is open, the filter files are in use!
Moral of the story: always close VD when installing filters.
Alternative Ending Moral: use an unzip tool that bothers to tell you that it wasn't able to extract a file  |
