This happens because a file type detection pattern isn't installed in the Registry for *.mkv files. For various reasons, I cannot use DirectShow's fallback strategy of trying every input filter. For now, you must manually select the DirectShow plugin in the file type dropdown for MKV files. |

Sorry, previous behaviuor was my 10l fault -- i put x64 input filter into plusins32 folder.
But now, situation is just slightly better
| CODE | --------------------------- VirtualDub Error --------------------------- File "E:\test.mkv does not have a video stream. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- |
Again, no difference between 1.9.1 and 1.9.0. And GraphEdit renders all fine. |

Nope, I haven't seen that one myself. Anything special about the MKV file, or any unusual filters in the GraphEdit graph? |

Nothing special about MKV file. I tried many different *.mkv -- no difference in behaviour.
Also nothing special about graph. You can see it: http://for_spam.gorodok.net/test_graph_x64.GRF . By default it uses internal Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, but it works also if you manually change it to ffdshow_x64 video decoder. |

Wait a minute... how are you using a 64-bit decoder with GraphEdit? I thought GraphEdit was only available as a 32-bit executable. |

Oh no I downloaded Windows 7 beta SDK, and extracted both x86 and x64 versions from it. |

I'm seeing the same problem. (32 bit, 1.8.8, MKV/H264/Vorbis)
Directshow graph shows nothing unusual. Haali splitter > ffdshow decoder > video renderer. First I thought maybe ffdshow had blacklisted VirtualDub, but that's not it either.
I'm pretty sure the problem is related to ffdshow though. If I use MKV with MPEG4 ASP it does work, but it seems the graph is decompressing through a VFW codec then (no ffdshow tray icon).

Rats, something must be going wrong with the DirectShow media detector. That's what I use to determine if video and audio streams are available. |

The problem is still there with VDub-1.9.2-test2. Will there be a fix for it, or I need to rollback to x86 version? |

@NeXT: Try to install the latest 32bit and 64bit version of K-Lite codec pack at www.codecguide.com
Additionally to install codecs, they also fix errors with codecs on your system during installation.

Avery, any update on this issue? |
