I know this is out of place and I have asked elsewhere about this. I have been having problems ever since after the time I either downloaded QMC or a network installer from Cnet for a program.
I keep getting "SYSTEM" (Anytime) is requesting outgoing access from remote IPs." I have my firewall set to autoblock because when these prompts come they do so in great amounts. There are pauses in between but when they start up I get sort of mailed.
I use filseclab firewall because it is a bit paranoid but above all it is the lightest of any firewall I have used thus so far. As I'm typing I have to pause because I'm getting whammed by one second prompts, every other second, one second delay for autoblock in the firewall's settings.
I have used Antivir, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and I am still having the prompts show up. Malwarebytes did it's cleaning and locked on to the Cnet installer and removed it. I had to reboot my computer after the clean.
I have even installed a network monitor but nothing out of the ordinary shows when these prompts come up. It's as if nothing is happening network-wise.
I don't see how I'm going to be able to make backups of my data with these prompts shooting up constantly. My DVD drive will slow down and make coasters.
What do I do now? I go under properties for "SYSTEM" or "*" and I can't figure out what program is connected with this? |

ok. I had to reregister some dll's and use a command to reset TCP and now network connections and Verizon is displayed. I have not seen the prompts come up. They usually come at this time. Crossing fingers. |

To discuss how to troubleshoot this issue you would need about 1000 pages of text. The best thing to do is download Ubuntu on another machine and burn on a CD. Use this CD to run Ubuntu live so you can backup your data. Once you have you data backed up, reinstall windows. Install all your drivers and programs you use. Now here is the best advice you will ever get.
Go buy acronis backup software! This is the only thing you can use to defend yourself from malware. Reimage your drive on a regular basis from an external source. Most of the viruses these days are not detectable or removable. Microsoft has made it clear that it will not help you with this issue, just check to see how many ports are open in windows 7 or how many services are running. If you install Norton products, its better to use your machine as a boat anchor. I clean peoples computers for free with one condition, if they install any version of norton products, I void their free support.
So, the plan now is simple. I have a machine which is backup with acronis, just the os. I reimage almost weekly, it takes about 4 minutes for me.
PS Microsoft admitted over ten years ago that it cant do nothing against rootkits. |

Thanks evropej
Viruses were much simpler back in the day to get rid of. I'm always backing up data. I have backup discs from the year 2000. Having OCD makes matter worse some times, lol. Amazing what little treasures you can become reacquainted with.
I'm still using XP. I like to keep things not as bloated and for me XP works fine. If I had it my way I would probably still be on win 2000 for a little while longer and then switch back to XP. I loved win 2000.
A lot of ISPs give out Norton Suites. When I offer alternatives to friends and strangers they are hesitant. I tell them to save their money every month by getting an alternative but they still won't listen, a few seem to get angry about it at me, like Norton is the master or something, lol. "Well the ISP offered it to me so it HAS to be good" Uhm no not really. I gave up fighting about it with people. Some get too defensive about it.
With Acronis I would need an external drive or an internal drive inside of an enclosure or can the second drive be the slave drive, internally? |

Acronis works with internal or external drives. I use version 11 which is old but it works just great. I cannot stress this enough to people, it saves you so much time.
A virus is something which slows a machine down, nags people, charges money for no useful service and cannot be uninstalled. Norton products fit this definition to the tea.
Most viruses only have two features such as nagging and cannot be uninstalled but none have all of the features like norton.
Like I said, I fix computer for free and most of the time the reason why peoples machines are not working is because of norton. When I do a clean install with say Microsoft security essentials, their machines run ten times faster- literally.
What is even more interesting is that most machines which were infested, were running norton already.
The cherry on the case is that these crooks actually charge people for subscriptions and when the subscription expires, they nag people until they buy it.
