Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > VirtualDub Filters and Filter Development > 3:2 Pulldown Removal

Posted by: ADVC100 Feb 27 2003, 02:55 AM
I recently bought a couple of NTSC DVDs that were created from a PAL source, the framerate conversion was done by a pulldown technique (similar to the 3:2 used for film to NTSC), not by blurring frames together.

Is there a filter, or is anyone thinking of creating a filter that has user configurable pulldown removal so I can 'undo' the pulldown on the video? ie, able to configure it to do 5:3 pulldown removal for example.

I'd love to re-code the NTSC DVDs to PAL DVDs and retain the full frames of the original source with no blurring of frames (the DVDs in question are of the cartoon show ReBoot and not available in it's native PAL format).

Have you tried the http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/decomb/decombnew.html plugin for Avisynth?

Woohoo it works! thanks fccHandler, using the Decomb filter and Decimate() I can reproduce the original frames.
