I have an hour long home video. Some scenes were shot indoor and others were taken outside. The light and color condition differ from segment to segment. I need to do some color correction on this video. I can split the video in several segment and process each segment independently and then join them together, but that will be a tedious task. Is there a way where I can define and save my filter settings for different segments and they automatically load at the start of each segment? Regards

Theres a few ways to do it The blend option With that you can selectively apply filters to various frames and at different strengths Eg create fade-in and fade-outs, brighten dark sections more than light sections To see how it works, add a fill filter, with that filter selected click the blend button, close the filter dialog On the view menu, open the curve editor Then shift-click (or is it ctrl-click?) on the curve editor window to adjust the % of the effect at different frames Step through the video and see how the effect turns out Now you can either have 1 adjustment, that you can apply at different strengths throughout the video Or add multiple filters, and have each one blend each segment at full strength Either way, there's no need to chop and rejoin the film at all

Dear dloneranger, I appreciate the quick reply. I forgot to mention that my total experience with virtualdub is just one week. My wife assigned me a task to convert all our VHS tapes to digital before they all fade away. Some of them are 27 years old, so you see they need lots of clean-up. What I failed to understand is how to tell virtual dub to apply which filter to which set of frames. It is not your fault; it is me because I am very new to this tool. As I use it I feel it is a very powerful tool; may be the only of its kind but my experience is limited. I will appreciate if you can do one more effort to explain how to set each filter to a set of frames. Regards

Here's a screen capture of me adding a black fill to make a fade in, then adjusting the brightness, contrast and saturation. Then making those adjustments appear in different sections Hope it helps http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17024916/MyUploadedStuff/BlendingAndTheCurveEditor.avi

I found your reply after I saw that YouTube example. Yours is easy to follow. I again thank you for the help. I can say I am not disappointed with virtualdub. I can do many things only if I know how.

This is really great. It will help me a lot. I already applied it to one clip and the result is amazing. Can you suggest something for removing noise and the strange effect around objects when they move.
