Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Advanced Video Processing > Speeding Up Your Encoding With Yv12

For mpeg2 -> mpeg4 reencoding you can speed up your encodings considerably by working in YV12 colorspace. I've written some information about how it works and the software required http://smokeslikeapoet.d2g.com

Feel free to post your comments, questions, and suggestions and i'll update the information as necessary.

Yeah it works find for me with that other mpeg4 codec that we're not supposed to discuss here. smile.gif I'm in the process of updating some of the links and software versions. All of the sofware is in heavy development so it's best if you go to the homepages of the various projects listed on my site to get the latest versions/bugfixes.

I've notice some YV12 development work going on in the dev forum, but i've tried to write my explanation from and end-user perspective. If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to try and answer.
