| Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Advanced Video Processing > How Do I Add Compatible Codecs To Virtualdub |
| Posted by: TonySan Jun 25 2011, 10:31 PM |
| Hi, I hope everyone here is having a great weekend. I am new to video editing as well as this forum. Please bear with me. What I would like to know is how to add more codecs to VirtualDub so that I can edit my videos. I want to compress some MPEG-4 H.264 video files but it seems that this codec is not supported by VirtualDub. Is there any way to add this codec extension to the software? I understand that "K-Lite Codec Mega Pack" can be useful for this purpose. If anyone is familiar with this I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You, TonySan |

VirtualDub uses VfW (for video) and ACM (for audio) codecs installed in system.
It's in MP4 container or MKV or MPEG-TS or...? VirtualDub natively does not support MP4 container, however... tried to use some http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=12664?
This codecs pack contain x264vfw, which can be used in VD to encode and decode MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video - also contain ffdshow VfW, which also can be used to decode. |
