Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Advanced Video Processing > Threading In Virtualdub 1.10

Posted by: MhXDigital Mar 31 2011, 11:24 AM
Hi guys,
I've got a PC based on an old P4 2.8. As you may know, it's very slow to encode in x264 with such a configuration, so I've decided to go and try the threading feature in VirtualDub 1.10

I've set the Video compression threads to 1, but I'm confused on how to set the other options. Setting them randomly to 4 and 4 caused the encoding speed to be multiplied by 4 with this filters list :

However, when changing the filters list (Adding two fill filters at the end), the encoding speed dropped back to normal as if threading was disabled, I can't understand this, I mean these fill filters are not that CPU intensive ! Please help, and thanks in advance smile.gif

Try the latest test version: http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=19755

It has some fixes and some performance improvements.
