Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Advanced Video Processing > Pip Capturing

I'm looking for a way to capture two video sources in real time. One being a full screen video feed , while the other is a PIP of another video feed. These would be captured to one file. I'm looking for a filter or a program that might get me closer to acheiving this small miracle.

I also thank you a head of time for any suggestions.

This is Totally Impossible to do they way you are explaining it...What Might sort of work is to capture Both sources seperately into 2 seperate Files, then use a Simple File Player to Play one of the Videos in a Big window and a Different File player or the another instance of the same file player to play the second video in a Smaller window and put the Small window in the Corner of the Big player window, so it looks like a Picture in Picture , then use a Screen Capture Program to capture Both windows Playing Both files..It seems in theory that this should work But in reality it might not cuz you will need a Lot of CPU power and Drive speed, but it is worth a Try...

Thanks Minion.....man "totally impossible" .....well I thought of your way, but I was looking for the killer app that might do all those steps in one step.....Guess $1000 Multiplexer or Quad is the only solution....

Wouldn't it be straightforward to capture both videos, then use your favorite NLE to accomplish this? I haven't done this specifically, but the Media Studio Pro tutorials describe how to overlay videos onto each other ...

But you're probably looking for a way with the same quality to cost ratio as VD smile.gif (i.e., infinite) ( i know, i know, that's not technically correct).

If this is a one-time thing, and they're not more than say 20 - 30M videos, let me know and i'd be glad to take a crack at it ... be a fun learning experience.

I think there aren't any TV Tuner cards that can tune in to two different frequencies at the same time AND capture them as well.

With two capture cards it would be possible to build a DirectShow graph that allows you to do this (provided you can find (or write) a DirectShow filter that will place the image of one input at the correct place in the other).
