Here is My problem: I encode to Divx and the video stalls while the sound continues then the picture just skips to another section and the same thing happens over and over.

Here is What I do:

I capture some television eps at
720x480
Mpeg1
7.22kbps
44,100 16 Bit Stereo
It makes a file anywhere from 1.4 to 1.6 gb
And The files plays Great! but there are comercials and the size is huge

I then open VDUB and open the file choose full proccesing for both audio and video. For Audio i choose MPEG layer 3, 128k, 44,100.
and for video I choose Divx 5.0.2. I then Setup a 1rst then 2nd pass for the encode. job control and 2 hours later i have the crappy file.

I have experimented with divx and changed the kbps to
1500kbps with a keyframe of 1200 and motion estimate 50%=no luck
932kbps with a keyframe of 300 and motion estimate 100%=no luck

Please any suggestions on what to do would be great!!

Sounds like your computer is choking (not fast enough to decode DivX at that resolution and/or bitrate). There are a number of possible solutions:

- In the Decoder Configuration for DivX, set "Quality Level" to MIN
- or, try a lower resolution like 512 x 384 or 448 x 336
- or, get a faster computer.

(I've also heard that ffdshow may help with this problem, but I don't use it myself so I can't say for sure.)

thanks for the reply.
I found that if I play it in divx player rather than Windows media player, which i use to play all my divx files, it works much better. hmm. a faster pc would be able to play in wmp better? or am i missing somthing for wmp?

ffdshow has helped me play higher res content. I would recommend you try it out.
I have a system that acts similar to that. K-6 300mhz 320x240 15fps using DivX player plays but in WMP chop chop. An even stranger thing is that my M2 250mhz can play 320x240 30fps smoothly with WMP 6.4
