I have a 700 mb video file and a 693 mb audio file that thinks its a video file file (not sure why at all). They do not correspond exactly and the audio file is longer than the video file by about twenty minutes. How would I go about combining the two?

Open the 'audio-only-AVI-file' first in Virtualdub and use the 'file' 'save as WAV' function to extract the audio into a .wav file. You may then open this WAV file in Virtualdub, after opening your video-only-AVI-file', and mux the 2 into one AVI file.

I don't think VirtualDub will open an "audio-only-AVI-file" (if that's what it is). See http://virtualdub.everwicked.com/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=4405&hl=.
