hello,

i wanted to load an avi file to virtualDub and convert it into mpg but there's always an error message like that.

/--
Couldn't locate decompressor for format DIV3. (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3 [Hack: DivX Low Motion])

VirtualDuB requires a Video for Windows(VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Direct Show codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

could someone help me with this problem?

thank you

Tried using TMPGenc, it's freeware for converting avi files to Mpeg1, and there is limited use of converting to MPeg2 for SVCD if you require it.

i think i need a div3 codec or so. but where do i get it and how should i paste it into the different programms?

"DIV3" is illegal, and I won't tell you where to find it. tongue.gif

Instead, I highly recommend the http://www.divx.com/divx/ codec. It's legal, plus it can decode all of the illegal DivX formats!

hello,

yes i know but i think the DivX is only to watch the movie or not? Can I save the movie to an .mpg file? i don't think so. i wanted to create an VCD but that don't works. Can you help?

Thanks

You need the decompressor not only to watch the movie but also to load the movie in VDub.
Cause of what fccHandler mentioned we wont discuss about Divx3 here, just install DivX5.02. It is legal, your file will load in VDub and you will be happy
