When I first open the avi file this pops up: VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 21378 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 96.0 ± 23.7 kbps) Pressed ok and then have the settings as: Video > Full Processing Mode Audio > Full Processing Mode Audio > Conversion > Sampling Rate: 44100Hz Precision: 8-bit Channels: Stero Video > Compression > DivX 5.0 Codec Then I play the file to preview it and all I get is a black screen with audio...I procede with encoding anyway and I still get a black screen with audio. Does anyone have any idea what went wrong and how I can fix it? Thank you!

What exactly are you trying to do ? Why do you use 'full processing' mode ? You want to recompress the movie ? Or is it a capture made with any other program than Vdub ?

Check which version of the DivX codec you have installed -- the original 5.0 release had a bad VFW decoder that output black frames for 3.11a-encoded material. DivXNetworks fixed the bug a long time ago in 5.0.1+.

Slap me if I am being really silly here. But this sounds "exactly" like what happens when you do 2-pass firts pass and then try to watch the AVI. Nothing but black with the audio stream. Is someone forgetting to run 2-pass second pass after 2-pass first pass?
