| Hello I am using Vdub to capture from my VCR connected to the composite input of a Pinnacle PCTV board. The VCR stereo audio is connected to my SoundBlaster Live! input connector. All is onto an AMD K6-2 @500Mhz system. If I capture live broadcasts tuned via the VCR and routed to the composite video, all is fine, I see very little dropped frames, but if I insert a VHS tape, old or brand new, pre-recorded or home-made, and I try to capture it, then I see huge drops of frames and sometime artifacts such as frames displacement. I have not seen a reasonable explanation or a workaround for this. Vdub FAQ simply say you can get it if your VHS is not good quality, but none of my VHS tapes seems to be good enough. The VCR is a Panasonic, the video out is PAL-B and taken from a SCART socket through a SCART-to-composite cable. The VCR has no other option to feed a capture card. Thanks |

| VHS video is much "noisier" than a live broadcast. Your problem might have a lot to do with your capture codec and/or resolution. Does it help to reduce the frame rate or resolution when you capture VHS? If so, then your CPU may simply be overworked. On the other hand, I've noticed that a lot of other people in this forum who use SoundBlaster Live! cards also have capture problems. Do a search here and perhaps you'll find some information that will help you. |
