This is a new problem, so I better start a new thread. After copying an entire video cassette to the hard disk, it was so huge, that I attempted to cut it into more manageable chunks. I think I did it right, using direct stream copy, making a selection and choosing 'save as AVI'. I tried it several time, but each time it started to save the entire file from the beginning and continued until I cancelled it. Then I discovered this: Number of key frames: 0 Min/avg/max/total key frame size: (no key frames) Min/avg/max/total delta size: 0/828951/829440 (184231260K) Is there any method to get keyframes? Or is there any way to split the file by inserting keyframes at the cutting point?

Number of key frames: 0 Other options you can try which may or may not help can be found when you load a new video. Using the File menu to load the video also select ask for extended options after this dialog on the load dialog popup window that appears. The same applies for other virtualdub decoder plugins that have other various options

Thank you very much. This has reduced my frustration. Is solves more problems than I had even attributed to the absence of the key frames. Now I can not only cut and save chunks, but I also can finally navigate with ease through the entire video. I had thought that my computer could not cope with such a large file.
