Hello to everyone. This is a great forum !!! I 'm recording with crypto redi pc 50 and my recordings are mpg. I cannot open them with vdub unless i convert them to vob and that takes time and space. Can anyone please help me with that? Here is a small sample of my recordings http://www.multiupload.com/ZLQHZKUQ9D . Can anyone open it with vdub and if yes with which version and with which plugins? I will be very grateful if someone can help me. Thanks in advance

It's MPEG-TS with AVC video and MP2 audio.

You can try:
- Avisynth script, with DirectShowSource for example,
- DirectShow import driver,
- or... demux A/V (tsMuxeR), mux to MKV (mkvmerge/MKVtoolnix) and import using Matroska input plugin.

To open through DirectShow import driver should be installed required DirectShow filters (for 'playing').
To decoding AVC video when opened through should be installed required VfW codec (x264vfw).

Thank you my friend for your reply. The things you wrote were new to me. I did some some ''moves'' but still i didn't get any result. I 'll describe you what i did and i hope that you can tell me what's missing. I have downloaded VirtualDub-1.9.11 whch is portable (i was using 1.5 which needed installation) . I placed it in my D hard disc and not at the C , where i 'm keeping all my portable programs. I created there also the plugin32 folder and there i added some plugins that i found from here. Here is what i have in that folder :
http://img34.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=894337771_v1_122_558lo.jpg

As you see i also downloaded ''DirectShow FilterPack'' and i also pressed the ''DSFP_inst'' . I 've downloaded it again at D hard disc and i placed it too, after instaling it, in plugin32 folder just in case it works but still nothing. I 've downloaded too the ''x264vfw_32_1913bm_27769'' codecs and i installed them too. Still nothing so i opened those codecs and i checked this box only.
http://img149.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=894908259_v2_122_205lo.jpg

It didnt changed anything. I 'm trying to open one recording with vdub but it doesn't allow me.
http://img108.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=008951427_v3_122_534lo.jpg http://img157.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=895143980_v4_122_148lo.jpg

I tried the directshow input driver but as you can see the recordings disappeared and only the name of one of them remained. When i pressed open after some sec it opened but only black screen and by pressing play the vdub stucks and i hear only 1 sec of audio and another sec after some time...

Can anyone please tell me what am i doing wrong and what i should have in plugin32 folder and from where to download them? I would be very grateful if someone can describe me and show the ''steps'' to open my files with vdub . Thanks for your efforts and time , i 'm already grateful !!!

Noone of the plugins support MPEG-TS, the only one that you can use for this is the DirectShow plugin.

In the open file dialog select the video to open then select "DirectShow input driver" from the drop down list and then select Open.

Edit: In the plugins32 folder you should put only .vdf and .vdplugin files.

Check the last 2 pics of my previous post ale5000 !!! when i choose the direct show the files disappear and only the name remains!!! did you manage to open my sample video with vdub? if yes tell me please how, step by step . Thank you.

Posted by: ale5000 Mar 23 2011, 10:47 PM
It is OK also if the file disappear.

Select the file with one click, then select "DirectShow input driver" from the drop down list and then press the button Open.

PS: Does the file play in Windows Media Player or in MPC-HC because if it doesn't play it won't work also with the DirectShow input plugin.
P2S: Why do you have the "DirectShow FilterPack" folder inside the plugins32 folder?

Posted by: psilos3 Mar 24 2011, 07:57 PM
As you saw at my last picture, i opened the video even by name but its black screen as i wrote. And it doesn't open and also it stucks. I have downloaded there the package that's why it is there, but i already have installed it. The file doesn't play at any player, only with gom and not so well!!! If you download it from my 1st post you will see what i mean!!! Did you opened it with vdub or any other program so you can edit it????

Posted by: ale5000 Mar 24 2011, 08:02 PM
If the file doesn't play in any player then it is normal that it doesn't work on VirtualDub using DirectShow/Avisynth.

You must install http://www.free-codecs.com/download/haali_matroska_splitter.htm and http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/files/Official%20releases/.
Once the video work fine in any player then you can re-try in VirtualDub.

I usually use http://www.codecguide.com/ that contain codecs for playing almost any video in the world.
Although most codec pack can mess with the system, in my opinion this one work perfectly and you can check/uncheck what you want during installation.
If you use this, it is better to uninstall all separate codecs (that are probably also included in it) before installing it.

Hello again from me. The help from here was great and at my pc (windows xp) still i don't have any problem and i am using vdub1.10.2. I 'm recording with crypto redi pc 50 and a small sample is here : http://www.mediafire.com/?dig1sovkd1p75o1
Here is my new problem . I bought a laptop with windows 7 , i installed what was written to me at this thread at a previous post and when i try to open my recordings with direct show (the file disappear as at xp) it says file cannot be found. Can someone please help me? What i need to install or do, in order to be able to use vdub at my laptop? Thanks in advance guys, sorry for bothering you, but i m trying for 2 months and i didn't manage to find a solution. P.S : i cannot play the files with media player at laptop, only with media player classic !

Any help guys?

Posted by: Abrazo Apr 12 2013, 08:28 AM
Here are the several steps:

1) VirtualDub 1.10.4-test7
> Download: http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/VirtualDub-1.10.4-test7.zip
> Install: this means "unzip" the package to for exemple C:\Program files\VirtualDub
(take care to also extract "folder names", so you will have a "...\VirtualDub\plugins32" subfolder)

2) Haali Matroska splitter 1.11.288.0
> Download : http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=6508&s=399&r=
> Install : this means "run" the EXEcutable package

3) DirectShow inputdriver plugin
> Download: http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/DShowInputDriver-0.93.zip
> Install: this means "unzip" the file "DShowInputDriver.vdplugin" to the folder C:\Program files\VirtualDub\plugins32
(take care to select the 32-bit version // the one in the "x64\release" folder is the 64-bit version)

4) ffdshow(-tryouts)
> Download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/
> Install: this means "run" the EXEcutable package

5) configure ffdshow
After installation of ffdshow, you will find in your Windows menu's:
> VFW configuration
> Audio decoder configuration
> Video decoder configuration

Open the "Audio decoder configuration"
> in the left panel, click "Codecs"
> now in the right panel, in the "Decoder" column, set every codec that you think that will be needed to "enable"
> click "OK"

Open the "Video decoder configuration"
> in the left panel, click "Codecs"
> now in the right panel, in the "Decoder" column, set every codec that you think that will be needed to "enable"
> click "OK"

6) try if it works in VirtualDub
> via File > "Open video file" you open the "Open video file" dialogbox
> navigate to the video-file that you want to open
> single click on it
> at "Files of type" select "Direct Show inputdriver"
> click on the "Open" button

Does this work ?

REMARK:
You say that files "disappear" or are "not displayed".
Are you sure that they are directly in the "My recordings" folder ?
In your "print screen" I see that there are subfolders. Don't you have to doubleclick on one of them to finally see the videofile ?

First of all Abrazo thank you for your effort and for bothering helping me!! I think that you saw the beggining of the thread. Well that problem was solved after the help of ale5000 and at my windows xp at my pc i work vdub perfectly fine!!!! The new problem is at this post :

''Hello again from me. The help from here was great and at my pc (windows xp) still i don't have any problem and i am using vdub1.10.2. I 'm recording with crypto redi pc 50 and a small sample is here : http://www.mediafire.com/?dig1sovkd1p75o1

I will add some screenshots to see about whats going on. Can you work my file at your vdub? To me it doesn't open with directshow, only with ffmpeg but it stucks immediately sad.gif I did what you wrote step by step but still nothing. About the audio & video decoder configuration i changed all the disabled codecs, but most of them they didn't have the enabled option so i chose the libavcodec option( 4 & 5 pics). At both,audio-video, only the avisynth codec had only the disabled option. If it's not a trouble for you, can you download my recording to see if it works at your vdub? Thanks in advance, looking forward for your answer . P.s at pic 3 it says file cannot be found

I don't know ffdshow-tryout and could maybe be done with that, or should be capable of doing so.

If not download this http://code.google.com/p/ffinputdriver/downloads/list choose the ...-32.zip for x86 unpack it all to virtualdub/plugins32 folder

Run virtualdub load your video using Open Video File with the option FFMpeg Suported Files

If still not you need better splitters to load media files http://code.google.com/p/lavfilters/downloads/list

Try again load your video file with virtualdub as above

Hi psilos3,

Could it be due to the fact that Windows is not showing the file extensions (like *.AVI, *.MP4, *.MTS, ...) of your video-files ?

Via Windows Explorer > Folder Options-menu > View-tab > uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and

now verify what it gives in VirtualDub via DirectShow input driver...

ADDed:

I don't know if it also would make a difference if - in VirtualDub - you would go to the Options-menu > Plug-ins..., click on the DShowInputDriver.vdplugin and Configure... and there check "Match file extensions ...". After confirmation, restart VirtualDub and retry...

Hi Abrazo!!!!! The Match file extensions was already checked, but i tried your 1st advice and even if the file was not displayed, as at windows xp, when i press open it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much my friend!!!!! 2 months i 'm bothering with it and i couldn't find a solution, i was looking at vdub but the solution was at windows options!!!! I 'M SO GRATEFUL!!!!! Thousands of thanks!!!!!!!!! You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.s : -vdub- thank you also for your effort!

Sometimes finding the cause of a problem is not always evident.

I'm glad for you that it has been solved.

Microsoft super nanny modes. Have always preferred to see all file extensions and set to do so when after installing windows os. All software's should work the same whether file extensions are shown or not shown. I didn't tested with virtualdub no other software could be virtualdub or microsoft lazy development team a bug with all microsoft os !

Tried and it messed up with virtualdub I did see the same error you had. Though also messed around with DirectX 3D (without DirectX the same) when used with video decode filter. Where would see two tiny windows top left of virtualdub. After restoring the file extensions to show again the same problem remained !

I shut down and restarted again virtualdub (a few times with testing this) loaded another video file (mp4) only then virtualdub restored to normal operation. After I did a restore using system restore to an earlier to be sure.

Something wrong with the video or just the way windows os is ?
