Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Newbie Questions > Error Initializing Audio Stream Decompression

Posted by: spartibus Aug 28 2009, 05:31 AM
For some reason, seemingly at random and out of no where, I'm getting the error:

"Error initializing audio stream decompression:
No installed audio codec could be found to decompress the compressed source audio

Check to make sure you have the required codec."

What's weird about this, is it's doing it for mp3 audio streams. Even more weird, is the fact that I have not installed/uninstalled anything or changed any system settings. It just started doing this out of no where.

GSpot tells me I have the required codecs (if I'm reading it right), and videos with mp3 audio and mp3 audio files all work 100% fine in all the players I have.

I just can't figure out why I'm getting this error, or how to fix it.

I tried installing the latest version of VirtualDub (1.9.5), but I'm still having the issue.

Show File information from VD.
Show info (screenshot) from GSpot.
Provide sample file (cut fragmet in VD used Direct stream copy mode).

Which is used operating system?

MPEG Layer-3 codec is available in Compression... (Audio menu)?

Try with internal decoder.
Options > Preferences... > AVI > Prefer internal audio decoders over installed third-party codec
