Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Newbie Questions > Convert And Make A Ts File Look Better?
Posted by: yoram2 Jan 10 2008, 10:32 AM
Hi all! As you gather I am new to the forum - and my questions may (or may not) be more or less stupid! But hey there are no stupid questions I have this file - now on TS on a dvd. But I want to make it look better. For example play with contrast, try to de-interlace - and if all possible make it widescreen (itīs letterboxed at this moment - and I thought I might get rid of the black bars and enhance it to 16x9). But - I dont know anything about doing these sort of thins. Any help apriciated!

I am more interested in how you are planning to change a 4:3 pictures into a 16:9 video format. Removing the black bar on top and bottom will change the size of the video but won't change it's format. a 16:9 has more pixels width than a 4:3 so the only option will be to hack down the 4:3 thus removing most of the picture You can't edit video straight from a manufacturer DVD.. DVD are copy protected so you need to remove this protection before attempting any work on the video file (have a look at GordianKnot you have all the tools there). VirtualDub has a series of filters available so you can probably change the contrast / de-interlace change fps etc. thereafter. Hope this help a bit..
