Try this: "File"-->"Append AVI Segment" in Nandub or VirtualDubMod wink.gif

Well, I have a slightly different problem, so I did a search, and I found this thread. Maybe I can get someone to help me...

I want to append a file to another one, but my "Append" command is stippled "greyed out." I have no clue why, and yes, I am an absolute newbie. Even so, I can understand why the append feature is unavailable.

Help...?

PS - I won't post a new topic unless I just don't get a response for a few hours. I don't know how often people check this board...

Are you trying to join MPEG files? VirtualDub cannot do this and grays the button. Try TMPGEnc's MPEG tools to cut/join MPEGs.

I suspect that first file you opened is some *.mpg or *.mpeg file. VDub works only *.avi files. That mens, BOTH first and secod file must be *.avi files.

Right now they are MPEG files, but it also fails for AVI Files...

The first files were .AVI. I am trying that now. Still grayed out...

Damn, now I suspect it IS mpeg/mpg file, just renamed to avi (I have seen such bastards more than once). Try to open the first file in Widows Media Player and there look to "Properties" and tell, which filters are working.

BTW, PLEASE, tell also, do you have some messages by VDub? If yes, which messages? And also "File Information", of cource about first file rolleyes.gif

I am going to conduct a couple of experiments. In the interim, I have downloaded TMPGEnc and leaerned to use its merge function. As a result, I have now created a composite .MPEG file out of the disparate clips.

It still remains to be seen if I can get the append feature to work in VirtualDub for .AVI...
