Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Codec Discussion > Noise Garbage In An Mp3

Posted by: blackhawk632 Mar 30 2004, 02:47 AM
I downloaded this mp3 off of Kazaa (it's legal to download) and I was listenin to it and about 16 secs through the song this very eaer piercing Noise and garbage fills up the rest of the song. I look at the search and it shows that 120 other users have this song. Why would they have it if it doesnt work?! so that led me to believe that it might be a codec, or is it just supposed to be like that.

Can anyone help?! anyone else have this problem?

right... ok p2p is not illegal, DISTRIBUTING copyrighted material IS

well, ive heard about the music-industry deliberately distributing fake MP3's, which do exactly what you describe
they start off fine, but after half a minute or so it just turns into noise... its just a way to discourage downloading mp3's with kazaa
it also could be somebody has done a lousy job ripping it

as for the number of people that have it: kazaa is full of fakes, IMO its the worst p2p program there is (but i will stop discussing this now, as this is not te place to discuss it)
so being a good boy now, i must advice you to just buy the CD or single (i-tunes is not so expensive); you dont rob the supermarket each time you need a bread or some milk right? (although CD's could be a little bit cheaper in most cases yes...)

anyway, im sure its not your mp3 codec, its the file (unless you have problem with the majority of files (not including the downloaded files from kazaa, considering the above)
