Hi,

I am running Virtual Dub on Win XP, and when I press Audio compression the following alert appears:

QUOTE
Access Violation in capture routine. Virtual Dub has intercepted a crash condition in one of its routines. You should save any remaining data and exit VirtualDub immediately. If you are running Windows 95/98, you should also reboot afterward.

This happens also when I click video compression, but when I click "Video Compression (compatible) it is fine.

I have tryed deleting my codecs, running VD in compatability mode and nothing has worked so far. I want to be able to record shows with a small size so I really want this to work. Thanks in advance for your help!

I do not think this problem happened a few months ago! I really need help ASAP, so thanks!! I have 100Gb free and a geforce 4 mx 420, 512 DDR Ram and 2ghz, so there are no problems there!

Try the Audio Compression option in the main program -- you probably have a bad codec installed. In particular, did you install the LAME ACM codec? That one is notorious for crashing.

thats what i do, i chose what channel to record, chose video codec and then when i press audio compression it comes up with that message. how would i go about getting rid of the LAME ACM codec, as i think i have it!!!
