Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Codec Discussion > Recompression Tilting?

Posted by: theadamgaskins Jun 5 2010, 08:40 PM
I recorded a video in camstudio with the Lagarith codec, and then loaded it into virtual dub to convert it to Camstudio Lossless codec, but the result is tilted... Its not rotated, just the very bottom line of pixels is normal, the next line up is shifted over 2 or so px, the next is 4, the next is 6 etc....

Any ideas why this is happening?? sad.gif

It's the width of the video you have given to the compressor
Make sure it's a multiple of 8 (crop some off the edged or resize if it's not)

---
Different compressors require different width usually a multiple of 2, with 8 and 16 being the safest choices
(The compressor should give an error if the width is wrong, but not all of them check

---
The DirectShow plugin often get these problem files to open correctly

Oh..... I was wanting to convert it in 854x480 so I could upload it to youtube without those black bars on the sides...

Hm, yes that would work. Thanks!

I just now realized, since my screen rez is 1440x900 that I can record 720p video! So now I'm good to go. Thanks guys!
