| When I try to install the ACMAC3 package on my Windows 7 x64 operating system by right-clicking on the ACMAC3.inf file and choosing "install", a window with a prograss bar appears briefly than disappear wich seems to indicate that the installation was successfull, but when I check in Virtualdub in the audio codec list, it's not there... I've also tried this method: If you're having trouble getting your audio codecs to show up in windows 7 x64 then try this: Open cmd.exe CMD: cd c:\windows\syswow64 Extract your codec to C: (or wherever) CMD: rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 0 C:\AC3ACM.inf But I get an error message saying: "Unable to copy file ACMAC3.acm to destination folder" I also get the same message for the file "ACMAC3.inf" Any idea what I'm doing wrong ? On my old XP laptop, the AC3 codec was showing in VirtualDub's codec list "naturally" (didn't have to install any codec or plug-in), but when I run the same version (VD 1.9.6) in Windows 7 x64, the codec is not there, only a blank space between the "no compression PCM" and the "CCITT A-law" codecs. I've also tried the AMD64 version of VD, but the same problem persist. P.S.: I'm running VirtualDub with a HP Pavilion laptop with 4 GB or ram, and I have very few programs installed; except for a codec pack that I've downloaded from Windows7codecs.com |

| AC3 encoders don't come with Windows so if you had it before it was installed separately. The 64-bit version of VD would use the 64-bit version of AC3ACM which should not have any problem installing, but the 64-bit version of VD can't use 32-bit codecs or filters so I wouldn't recommend it. As for fixing the install I can't help, I used the 64-bit version. |
