Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > General Discussion > Getting "no Statslist"

Posted by: ladodger Feb 19 2012, 10:28 PM
I'm running a program called Media Subtitler that merges a subtitle file with a video file, it uses virtualDub to do the merging, but when virtualdub starts its give a message that says "no statslist" and stops. Whats wrong? thanks

Thats not a message from virtualdub itself

Best guess
It's a message from the codec that's being used
When a codec does 2 pass encoding it records the stats on the first pass and saves them to a file
On the second pass the codec uses that file to get the right size for the output video
If the second pass cannot find that file you'll get an error message like the one you have

5 possible reasons you might get this message
1) You're doing 2nd pass without having done the first pass already
2) In the config of the codec the location of the stats file is different for the 1st and 2nd pass
3) The stats file is set to somewhere you don't have permission to write to eg c:\
4) The stats file is set to a folder that doesn't exist any more - you might have moved the program or something
5) The stats file is in your temp folder and you cleaned out the temp file before pass 2 (not very likely, but I've seen it happen once with a guy I know who's obsessed about temp files)

I realized my mistake the next day, it was set to 2nd pass instead of 1st. sorry it took so long replying, but this is the first time I checked my E-mail. Thanks
