Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > General Discussion > Script To Join Multiple Instances Of Avi Pairs

Hi,

I have a situation where I have a large amount of avi movies (maybe thousands), all split in 2 parts, filed the following format:

A.Movie.Example-cd1.avi
A.Movie.Example-cd2.avi
Different.Movie-part1.avi
Different.Movie-part2.avi
Yet-Another-Movie-a.avi
Yet-Another-Movie-b.avi

Basically a whole stack of movies which are in pairs, only differentiated by the last character before the extension.

Is there a way I could write a script to merge 2 movies together if the filenames are within 90% of matching, with the movie coming alphabetically first always being the first movie within the merge. And then repeat this step for every match in the directory?

I was hoping maybe someone may have already written a similar script? Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks
Clay
