I am have a frustrating prob' with the audio on the final burned DVD - it comes out "jerky" ie like when you speak and you tap your throat... very , very quickly. Quite broken up.

My first attempt at the dvd burn resulted in the first chapter coming out perfect but the remaining chapters as above prob.

Thinking I had done something wrong with the avi conversion to create the individual chapters, I redid them and now all have the same prob - jerky/broken audio.

When I play the avi files produced by VD from my hard disc, they are perfect, no prob with vid' or audio quality.

I have done the burn using two different programs and the outcome is the same, so I feel I've eleminated the burn program. Given I did get one chapter to come out fine (see above) makes me think there is some setting in the avi files I creating.

Here's the process I followed;

1) Captured files (three tapes) from camera using good old Windows Movie maker and saved each as avi file
2) Used VD to cut out unwanted segments from each file
3) Set video and audio as "direct stream" and saved as avi file(s). I didn't have the preview screens running - disabled them - during this process
3) Checked avi files by playing with VD and Quicktime ; video & audio quality perfect.
4) Imported saved avi's to dvd burn program and burned dvd
5) Video quality perfect, but audio is broken/croaky.

Help!

Does the DVD play poorly on your PC as well as a stand-alone DVD player?

Yes, the prob is present on stand alone DVD player and/or on pc dvd player and other pc based players capable of handling dvds

I have just noticed something else.

I used a "stock" items to create a leader ie a countdown screen

This was a "mpeg" file and saved as avi via movie maker.

This file plays fine in the dvd.

I am now thinking I might import the avi files I created in VD into movie maker, re-save them as avi files and try the dvd burn again.

Will report back if success or not.

Well, that seemed to have fixed the problem.

I used VD to trim the raw file and save as avi.

Then used movie maker to resave as avi (again).

Problem solved - audio is great now.

Long process but it worked. wink.gif

Still dont know what the prob was with VD but in the end, I got the solution I needed
