Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Testing / Bug Reports > Vdub 1.5.10 Build 18160 Capture Bug

Posted by: Vdubber Apr 3 2004, 03:18 PM
When trying to capture to a low frame rate (say 0.0125, to capture slow motion phenomenon like clouds buildup..) Virtual dub 1.5.10 build 18160 seems to have a bug, and the Avifile 'movi' chunk is missing ('LIST' fourcc too) then the resulting AVI is not valid and unreadable;
I tried to do exactly with the same capture settings with a previous version - 1.5.8
or 1.5.4 and then no problem..

Anyway I Succeded in recovering the unreadable by modifiying the AVI with the valuable Hex editor integrated, and the Riff chunk tree was a great help.
Using my intuition, Recreating manualy a Chunk 'LIST' and 'movi' at the proper position in the file.
after saving my modifications, I leave VDub recreate missing indexes and I recovered
my long capture...
But In short, there really seem to be a nasty bug here !

Hope for a fix in the next version, in the meantime, my workaround is to switch to an older version to capture properly.

Anyway I'm I wrong ? did you noticed the same problem ?

Capture system ATI AIW64, codec yuy2
