Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Testing / Bug Reports > Virtualdub 1.5.2 And Cuts

Put a divx file on 1.5.2 and jump using KF advance in the middle of the timeline. Now extracting start and end leave on timeline a small part of the file. Save it. On my system audio is correct, but video is the starting frame of the entire movie (cutted away !). Turing back to 1.5.1 all works fine.

I noticed the same problem. This only happens with Direct Stream Copy. Additionaly it can happen that keyframes from somewhere else in the file will be inserted in front of other keyframes, if that is the normal video (capital letters are keyframes)
AaaaaaaaaaBbbbCccccccccccccccccDdddddddddddEeeeeeeFffffffffffffffffff...
and you cut off a bit from the front, this can come out:
CccccccccccccccccIDdddddddddddUEeeeeeePFffffffffffffffffff...

This is a very major bug.

Happened to me too.

Both video and audio - direct stream copy, codec Picvideo MJPeg (so all were keyframes). After deleting several parts and/or frames from various places and saving the video, random frames appear everywhere. They are not really that much, but I haven't wached all of it - quickly deleted the video. I have noticed that this frames' origin is close to the place they are inserted to, but their position doesn't seem to have anything in common with the position of the cuts.

Thanks, guys -- this is a bug in the subset code, and regular ranges aren't affected. (I did say 1.5.2 was experimental.) The code in question is a bit complex because it deals with frame rate decimation in direct mode, which is tricky but required for video streams that are almost all key frames; most notably, Huffyuv streams with a few drops. Aiming for 1.5.3 "stable" in about a week or two; email me if you want to try a beta build.
