im using it for a long time now. im using it to make screen shots of videos i want and then oppenning those with virtualdub v.1.9.11.0 and then im making gifs as my hobby.
today i tried to open a random video with virtualdubmod and i couldnt.
i tried every video i have(and i have alote)and non were able to be open.
when i open the video im using the:"using avisnyth template" option and im chosing the "directshowsource" option.
the messege i get is:" the source image format is not acceptable. (eeror code -2)

can u plz help me fix it?
i have also reinstall Avisynth and i intstalled the newst ffdshow as well.
and i have no idea why nothing is working.
i also want to add that it doesnt matter what i choose in the"using Avisynth template" option. vdm end up with errors and not oppenning my video files anymore.
and i havnt changed a thing on my computer.

Uninstall the new depreciated ffdshow. Install again the old ffdshow you previously installed that was working.

sry i havent explained it right.
i installed a new ffdshow AFTER i discoverd i have this problem, the problem itself started with the OLD ffdshow,so installing the old ffdshow wont solve it.
hope som1 can help me fix it.and again i just want to mention its virtualdubMOD not virtualdub, i think there is a diffrense between the 2.

Don't know in which circumstances or conditions you are using VirtualDubMod, but most of the time this kind of error message is preceeded by "Video compression error:".
In that case, the error is due to choosing a "profile" in the encoding settings (of the compression codec being used) that is not compatible with the source file.
For exemple: choosing the "qMobile" profile in DivX while using 480p or 720p video. From the moment you are willing to start saving the new AVI, you will get that error.

im sry but this is all gibrish to me.no offense but i have 0 knowledge about all this.
till yesterday and again i havnt changed anything on my computer.my vdm worked just fine.
what im doing with vdm is:
i open a video file and in the use avisynth template option i choose directshowsource.
then i open the video and i can do what ever i want with it.
but now for some unknown reason after i do everything i just wrote and i open the video i get the message:" the source image format is not acceptable. (error code -2)"
and when i click on the play button i get the message:"the decopression codec cannot be decompressto an rgb format.this is very unusual check that any"force YUY2" options are not enabled in the codec properties".
i hope this gave u a bit more info. i dont know what els to add.

If you have a System Restore Point preceding the problem, try using that.

Not what you need to hear maybe, better install new virtualdub beta version. It can all that virtualdubmod could ever do and better. With doing so can use filters that will load decode all the files you like. Then able to output to many formats and containers as you need if you learn a little how to do so by reading virtualdub help and the forum. Forget ffdshow it also is old hat.

First though as suggested roll back, or restore from a backup to when the os was running ok with virtualdubmod for you. As maybe your pc isn't doing so well atm, os media filter or similar issue.

Actually for me I don't understand the need to use virtualdubmod not since virtualdub external encoders was added. Suggest this thread should be moved to virtualdubmod part of the forum, Avery doesn't fix or develop virtualdubmod only virtualdub.
