Hi, i have found what appears to be an unwanted result from VirtualDub. The point is to open an MPG file, cut some parts and save the resulting file, without disturbing the audio (background music). So, first of all i export the audio to wav file, then select and cut the unwanted video. Then select Audio > wav audio, select the intact wave file. I tried using direct stream copy and full processing mode. When saving the final file, the audio is cut in the parts that i had removed video. (The same result as i had used audio > source audio) I used ffdshow for video compressing (wmv7) in full processing mode for video. As a workaround, i exported the video as uncompressed with no sound, opened it again and added the external audio with no video cuts this time (it takes a lot more time) and it went just fine.

This might work: Save the audio. Edit the MPG and save the edited file in Direct stream copy mode. Reload the new video file and then add the audio file as an external file and resave in Direct stream copy mode.

Yeah, that would have been nice but seems that you can't do direct stream copy with mpg files, but only with avi files. Thanks for the reply.

If you want to keep the file as mpg then frameserve to TMPGEnc.
