Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Testing / Bug Reports > V.dubmod Stops Working Somewhere In A Job

Posted by: AlCapone Jun 24 2004, 07:44 PM
Thank you for this program.

System: Dual 2.8Ghz with 1GB ECC RAM. 3Ware SATA RAID (this is a no-biterror computer rock stable on all jobs.)

I tried virtually any version after 1.5.1.1a (1.5.1.1a still works perfectly)
all of them stop randomly somewhere in a re-encoding or muxing job, and just stop working, the program is running fine and can be stopped by clinking "abort" anytime.

while VirtualDubMod do "nothing" it logs:

could you perhaps be more specific on the kind of thing you are doing (which codecs you use, what you mux, which container)

also what OS you are on etc.

does it happen with normal VDub as well?

>>kind of thing you are doing
muxing freshly rendered XviD video with fresh VBR MP3 file.
(any set of video+audio)

>>which container
I do not know what this is(/where to find it)

>>also what OS you are on etc.
XP , SP1 & all significant patches.

>>does it happen with normal VDub as well?
eighter vdub or nandub does it just fine.

I am still using 1.5.1.1a , it process the same files just fine, each time.
-in fact, i do not think I ever seen vDubmod do anything bad (hang/freeze/crash) apart from this "stopping" , that were implemented after 1.5.1.1a smile.gif

container is the "wrapper" in which you put your media streams eg AVI, OGM and Matroska (for VDM)

ok, then the XviD is in AVI , and the VBP MP3 comes in MP3 . both sources contain only one stream until muxed into an AVI with both XviD & MP3 audio.

I can confirm that this problem occurs when muxing a VBR-encoded MP3 to an AVI-file (no matter if it is the only Audio stream or a second). Converting the MP3 to CBR and everything works.

I always use VBR MP3 , so it makes sense...

now ... could some kind person locate and sqash this bug ?

With Build 2439 this behaviour seems to be fixed. At least with my system...
