Hey all, I'm having a weird problem, with 1.5.1 and 1.5.2. I load an MPEG2 file (saved from WinDVR), and attempt to re-encode it with a few chunks (commercials ) cut out. However, if it reaches the end of the encode, or if I hit the abort button before then, VirtualDubMod crashes, and leaves the output AVI in an unreadable state. At least, WMP and BSPlayer both claim it's unreadable. I'm running WinXP SP1. Also, if I use DVD2AVI and vfwapi bridge, VirtualDub has no problems encoding the same file. It's only if I load it directly into VirtualDubMod that it does this weird thing. Graeme

Did you encoded the audio to MP3 inside VirtualDubMod by chance ? If so there is a bug regarding this (that happens when encoding ends, either because it reached the end or because you forced the program to end it ). This should be fixed now (try the version http://cyrius.bunkus.org/VDubMod_Fixes.zip). Other than that VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a contains fccHandler's mod for MPEG2 support (no more DVD2AVI integration - made by pulco-citron - for the moment), and IIRC we have quite recent changes (well, not yet those that has been added in 1.5.3 ).

Well, I guess I'll just switch back to VirtualDub then. Mind you, I won't have any more clips to test the encoding with until I've figured out why WinDVR has decided not to record audio. Man, I wish there was a piece of PVR/DVR software that didn't do bizarre and unexpected things all the time, yet would also capture at D1 resolution from my bt878 card. I guess I just demand a lot from my computer stuff. Anyway, thanks for the pointer to the fixed version! Graeme

@Suiryc Sorry but your Version still has the same bug! I have the same problem that vdubmod crashes at the end of a file with mp3 audio. Sure I have the versin by FccHandler but I want to create a Matroska file! So I have to use VirtualDubMod! When will be a new version of VDubMod released? approximately? At all I'm very happy with VdubMod. I'm also interested in testing Matroska, especially the solution of A/V sync

@unit3 sure i tried virtual dub mod 1.5.1.1a I also tried the version offered by Suiryc with the same result! I finally have to say that this just happens when creating a matroska file So i'm still waiting for an update of Virtual Dub Mod! Sice a few days there is a new link on the Sourceforge page of Virtual Dub Mod! http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=130443 It shows many bugifxes! but there is now Link posted to download the new File! I hope this will change within the next few days (or hours )

Yeah we released a bugfix version some days ago, and removed it the day after because I added a _major_ bug in it In the meantime we had started to update / make enhancements etc so we couldn't re-release the bugfix again untill we had finished. We also have to wait a bit that a new 'official' matroska DShow filter is released because some changes in the libraries make that new files may have problems being read with old DShow filters... We should release a new bugfix soon. Maybe it will correct your problems ...

Well, I had to come here to see if I found an answer to the same problem. I d/l a lot of those useless SVCD files & convert them to avi using virtualdubmod to comvert the mpg to avi but, invariably, at the end it crashes leaving the avi without an index. At that point, I must reopen the avi in Virtualdub, let it parse the file and reencode it again--a two-step process when one ought to be enough. Is there a solution? Oh, and.... thanks for the links to "new" versions. They would be terrific if only one of the two worked. Also, while I'm at it, I wish the "cropping" screen were smaller because sometimes it's so big, I can't see the bottom to advance the film: it's out of the screen. Can't the "cropping" be simply proportional instead of *precisely* the size of the image? Thanks
