I've been using 32-bit VirtualDub but now that DeShaker is available in a 64-bit version I'd like to use 64-bit Virtualdub for deshaking.
What plugins and codecs do I need to read the .MP4 files from a GoPro HD Hero camera and the .MOV files from a Contour HD 1080 camera?
Less important but useful would be the ability to read .ASF files from an Aiptek SD digital video camera and .MTS files from a Canon HD video camera. |

In either case you will have to use 64-bit versions of codecs, filters and inputdrivers in combination with VirtualDub 64-bit.
To be able to open MP4 and MOV files, you have several possibilities:
1) Install the FFMpeg inputdriver plugin (no need for extra codecs to install) >> http://www.mediafire.com/download/taotoada...0.8.0.2_bin.zip
2) Install the DirectShow inputdriver plugin (will make use of DirectShow codecs) >> http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...=ST&f=7&t=15093
3) Install the QuickTime inputdriver plugin (will normaly make use of Video for Windows "video"-codecs and ACM "audio"-codecs) >> http://sourceforge.net/projects/fcchandler.../?source=navbar
> MP4 has H.264 video-encoding and AAC-audio-encoding > MOV has MPEG4 video-encoding and AAC-audio-encoding
For a Video for Windows version of H264 codec you can install the x264vfw codec: > http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/
Extra VFW and DirectShow decoders can be installed via ffdshow. You can enable/disable the needed codecs seperately. >> http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tr...20%28stable%29/
You can open ASF, WMV, MTS with either the FFMpeg or the DirectShow inputdriver. > MTS has H.264 video and AC3 audio > ASF has msmpeg4 video and wma audio > WMV has wmv video and wma audio
There is also a WMV inputdriver plugin > http://sourceforge.net/projects/fcchandler.../?source=navbar |

I've tried lots of codecs to be able to open .mp4 files from a GoPro, but haven't had any luck. Can you suggest one you think is most likely to work?
I also installed ffdshow and have enabled the mp4 codecs, but that hasn't worked either.
Thanks
PS I am using 32 bit, but was trying to limit new threads |

There are a few ways that may work
You'll need to use an input plugin (and any extra bits they may require)
DirectShow plugin + splitter (Haali or LAV) + DirectShow codecs (FFDshow or LAV) Quicktime plugin + VFW codecs (FFDshow and AAC ACM) FFMpeg plugin - should work all by itself
All of those can be found on the Input plugin page http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...=ST&f=7&t=19488
To open the file with a particular input plugin select the file in the open vidio dialog, then choose the plugin from the dropdown box at the bottom 'file of type'
